Why Breaking Bread? Podcast Episodes

Around the meal table, needs are met. As participants we celebrate the common solution to our physical need – bread. While we do so, bread of another type is broken as well. Help, hope, and encouragement are shared to meet the needs of our struggles, heartaches and questions. Breaking Bread is reminiscent of these life-giving conversations. This podcast strives to meet some of our common needs through our common solution – The Bread of Life.

There are few things that Apostolic Christians do better than doing lunch. Would you agree, Brian? Well, there’s no doubt. We like to do food. We do a lot of it, and we do it well. It draws us closer together in many ways. I mean, it’s a staple at every function. Yeah. There’s always some part of what we do that involves sitting down and eating together.

You know, we laugh, and we can chuckle about it, but I think one day we will understand the great value that lunch served in our faith. Yeah, I think it is a great place where relationships are forged, topics are discussed, and there’s a sharpening and a deepening of both relationships and understanding.

And when we like to eat, that’s not a bad side piece either. Well, when you eat and when you break bread together you are really somewhat celebrating a common need that our bodies have and a common solution in what the bread is, and then Christ identifies himself as the bread of life. Did he just happen upon that analogy, or do you think that was determined from the beginning?

I think that was definitely woven into his wisdom of knowing our needs and being able to provide just a beautiful solution that we can enjoy. I think it speaks to the understanding of God, the bigness of God, and just how he connects to us in a very spiritual life-breathing way, but also in a very earthly sense, and being able to meet our earthly needs and sustaining us with food.

And this podcast really has been designed to be a conversation that we would have around the dinner table, around the supper table. A common conversation that believers have as we sharpen one another. And so, I think it’s very fitting that the name of this podcast is Breaking Bread.

I agree. I think it’s a good name. It captures the essence of what we’re trying to do, and hopefully it’ll also mean that there’ll be snacks as we go. So, you know, you might hear us talking with our mouth full or might ask for the sandwiches to be passed or something like that. Yeah.

That would be expected. And of course we’ll have to have dessert as well. Yes, there’s no good lunch, no good meal without dessert, that’s for sure. Well, very good. So, as we think about this podcast and about the intentions here, breaking bread where we share the common need that we have of salvation in life, and the common solution in Christ.

And that he is our bread of life. Our prayer here at ACCFS is that you would be blessed by this podcast.
