Discipleship Conference 2023

Discipleship in Community

God calls us to a life of discipleship, a personal walk with him where we bring all our life into alignment with the way of Christ and encourage others to do the same. This year our Discipleship Conference took place on April 15th in Leo, IN, and we focused on how the community around us can support and encourage this walk of discipleship. The main sessions, breakouts, and practice forums, all focused on key aspects of a community that fosters discipleship. This conference is designed to encourage attendees in their personal walk with Jesus as well as support those who are helping others on this journey.

Main Sessions:

Discipleship in Community
God's plan for the world is realized through his community of disciples. What could life in our local church look like if "making disciples of all people and training them how to do everything Jesus commanded" was taken as its primary objective?

Breakout Topics:

Emotional Health in Community
For better and for worse, you bring all of who you are into every relationship you have. Your internal emotional life is deeply tied to your external relational life. How can a community of Christ-followers care for the emotional health of its members?

Peacemaking in Community
Christians can be bad at resolving conflict. Some of us are prone to avoid it and pretend nothing is wrong; others of us are harsh and overly critical. How can a community of disciples engage in peacemaking as Jesus modeled it?

Developing Community Rhythms
We all live our life in rhythms or patterns. These consistent practices in our daily life make up a large part of who we are and who we are becoming. How can a local church engage in developing spiritual rhythms that result in a community enveloped in God's love?

Known And Loved in Community
Healthy community provides safety for its members as we are known and still loved. Fear is cast out as deepening love prevails. What are principles that can help a community model the love found in 1 John 4?
