This retreat is intended for members and attendees of the Apostolic Christian Church of America as an opportunity to enhance and strengthen their marriages within the context of our denomination.
Main Sessions
#1: Building Connection
The safety and connection we feel as a couple creates a foundation from which we build other aspects of our marriage. This session looks at ways to build healthy connection within our marriage relationship as well as identifies common barriers to this growth. Couples will be given time to reflect on and build their connection during this first evening session.
#2: Navigating our Emotional Patterns
This session focuses on understanding the territory of emotions. Our emotional climate creates patterns and cycles in our marriages. These patterns can either strengthen us or lead us to areas of disconnect and hurt. In this session and its subsequent discussion, learn how to identify these patterns in your marriage and how to shift them into areas of strength.
#3: Reparative Communication
Conflict is inevitable in marriage. But healthy dialogue through differences can actually help deepen a marriage relationship. This session and its subsequent workshop focus on applying helpful communication principles to your marriage and will give participants an opportunity to learn and practice skills which help navigate difficult conversations.
#4: Nurturing Lasting Joy in Your Marriage
Joy in marriage is a powerful bonding agent. This Sunday morning session will walk through several simple, practical, and yet profound ways in which joy can be nurtured in your marriage each day. These simple, nurturing ways can become a powerful legacy for marriage relationships as well as an example for those around us.
