Minister Discussion Modules
Introduction
OBJECTIVE
- To provide tools for individual minister health.
- Encourage pulpit team partnership and discussion.
MODE
Lessons are designed to be used together as a pulpit. They require ~20 minutes and could fit nicely into already scheduled minister team meetings. Each lesson facilitates learning, application and conversation. The lessons below apply to the overall theme of resiliency and spiritual health and can be worked through at the pace which the minister team chooses. The lessons can be engaged in any order, although it is recommended that you begin with the Leading from a Place of Health lesson.
FORMAT
Each lesson in the series has the following components:
- Video: a short 2 – 5 minute video introducing the topic and laying a foundation for the content.
- Text: One page of teaching text to be read by participants.
- Discussion questions: Reflective questions to draw out conversation within the minister team on the lesson content.
- Application: A suggested daily practice that encourages health in that area of discussion.
- Follow-up discussion questions: Questions intended to prompt conversation reflecting on the implementation of the practice.
SUGGESTED DIRECTIONS
- As a minister team, watch the video introduction. Then read the teaching text together. As a suggestion, you could have one person read it out loud while the others read along silently. Next, have a short discussion on the discussion questions given. Finally, have a volunteer read the exercise out loud. In your next meeting, you can discuss your experience with this exercise using the follow-up discussion questions provided.
