My father took on lot’s of shame from my grandfather in his youth and young adult life and I grew up seeing my father carry this burden of shame (still to this day I would say to a large extent). With this modeled during my youth I believe my tendency for many years of my life was to default to shame as a “natural” response to sin. Until recent years, with healthy counseling my wife and I are able to openly call out and acknowledge when I slip back to a shame response.

I often struggle with confusing shame and guilt l, it is good to remember to seperate the two.
