Marriage Retreat 2023

Did you ever feel like you and your spouse just need a little time away? Growing as a couple through emotional patterns, communication opportunities, and intimacy within marriage can be exciting yet challenging. ACCFS will be hosting its first-ever Marriage Retreat on October 27-29, 2023 in beautiful Prescott, AZ! Enjoy time away with your spouse while growing your marriage with teaching sessions, discussion breakouts, activities, and more geared toward encouragement, learning, fellowship, and growth!

This retreat is intended for members of the Apostolic Christian Church of America as an opportunity to enhance and strengthen their marriages within the context of our fellowship.

Sessions

#1: Learning & Navigating Emotional Patterns-  PPT Handout
This session focuses on understanding the territory of emotions. Our emotional climate creates patterns and cycles in our marriages. These patterns can either strengthen us or lead us to areas of disconnect and hurt. In this session and its subsequent discussion, learn how to identify these patterns in your marriage and how to shift them into areas of strength. (This session has a suggested pre-work activity.)
#2: Growing Spiritual Union as a Couple-  PPT Handout
Our spiritual union as a couple serves as the foundation of our marriage. In this morning session, we will review activities designed to create focus and intimacy in several areas of our spiritual life. Couples will be given time to work on these activities in downtown Prescott.
#3: Learning Reparative Communication-  PPT Handout
Conflict is inevitable in marriage. But healthy dialogue through differences can actually help deepen a marriage relationship. This session and its subsequent workshop focus on applying simple yet profound communication principles to your marriage and will give participants an opportunity to learn and practice skills which help navigate difficult conversations.
#4: Emotional & Physical Intimacy-  PPT Handout
God’s design for marital sexuality includes both emotional connection and physical responsiveness. However, busy lives, stress, and skewed messages from the world can get in the way of experiencing the full blessing He desires for us in this area. This presentation and discussion focus on four practical ways couples can deepen their emotional intimacy while enhancing sexual fulfillment. (Couples will be encouraged to preview some content ahead for this session.)
#5: Nurturing Lasting Joy in Your Marriage-  PPT Handout
Joy in marriage is a powerful bonding agent. This Sunday morning session will walk through several simple, practical, and yet profound ways in which joy can be nurtured in your marriage each day. These simple, nurturing ways can become a powerful legacy for marriage relationships as well as an example for those around us.

Located in downtown Prescott, AZ. This hotel is where Saturday sessions will be held. You can receive a special rate for rooms if you mention you are part of the Apostolic Christian Church. Church Family's Casitas

If you are interested in a more cost-friendly accommodation option, several of the Prescott church families have casitas in which they would be willing to host guests. If interested, please contact Autumn Rokey at [email protected]. Casitas will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Transportation

If you do not wish to rent a vehicle, there are also several regular shuttles between the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport and the Prescott area. You can find information on this shuttle service here. Contact Autumn Rokey at [email protected] if you have questions in this area.

Donations

ACCFS relies upon donations to cover costs associated with this event. A suggested donation of $200 per couple is recommended to help cover these costs. This donation does not include your personal transportation and lodging costs.
